2011 has been an
amazing year for The Detail, seeing the band develop and grow into the
strongest dedicated Ska, Soul & New Wave covers band in Yorkshire.
Beginning last January with a fairly dismal gig at the Merlins,
we were beginning to wonder if it was all worth it. Things soon began to pick
up though, starting with a superb night at the Bay Horse – a great new venue
for us – and Rude Boy Rich’s charity fundraiser at the Hunslet
Club.
Even
bigger and better things were to come in March however, in the shape of new
lead vocalist Alan. An instant success, he received the seal of approval from
everyone who saw the band and audiences soon filled every venue. By the summer and with 20 new songs, The Detail
played two outdoor specials at the Engine and White Hart, backing this up with
packed local gigs at the Broadway and Cross Flatts
Rec Club. Further afield, the lads’ talent shone at great venues in Horsforth, Mirfield and Ledston. Also chosen
for three birthday bashes and a wedding, confidence in and around the band was
now at a high and securing the Leeds Allstars and 2012 Leeds Central Elite Scooter Clubs’
prestigious annual events was the icing on the cake.
Next
year promises to be one to remember, with more gigs, more songs, outdoor specials,
scooter events etc. with all our friends and supporters joining us along the
way. We thank you for your amazing support during 2011 – remember, we couldn’t
do it without you – and we’ll see you all very soon for more great times…

We have had moans
from publicans that people are not arriving at the pubs until we are due to go
on at 9.00 and they are not taking enough money to pay the band. PLEASE try to
get in earlier, as we will lose the venues – it’s about the pub making some
money at the end of the day and they are struggling in these hard times. Thanks
and don’t forget – DRINK MORE WE SOUND BETTER!!!

The Detail is an eco-friendly
and low carbon band. We also try to re-cycle our old tambourines and beer cans
where possible.

The New Railway
upstairs room with the BOUNCY DANCE FLOOR is available FREE for private
